Here’s the best rundown of all the things going on in the area, including The Pelican Reef.

  • Saturday, May 20th & Sunday, May 21st

“Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!”

These famous words were uttered during the historical Battle of Mobile Bay over 150 years ago.

This Saturday and Sunday, you can watch as history is re-told.

On May 20-21, the 6th Alabama Cavalry and the Alabama Division of Re-enactors will commemorate the famous Battle of Mobile Bay. The re-enactment of the 152nd Battle of Mobile Bay is set for Saturday at 2pm and the surrender ceremony at Fort Gaines will begin at 3:30pm.

The highlight on Sunday will include a Tactical at 1pm. The Fort’s Blacksmith will be on hand all day working in the Fort’s original Blacksmith Shop and music will be provided by the Kracker Dan Band. Activities will be taking place throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday and there will be plenty to see and do for the entire family!
