This week is Thanksgiving Week!

Before we begin, we’d like to give thanks for YOU.

This year has been wonderful for us getting to meet you, your friends, and your family when you came to visit The Pelican Reef.

We hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday this year!

Here’s a quick rundown of our schedule this week.

Monday – Open All Day – Serving our killer Lunch from 11am – 2pm. Kitchen open until 9pm. Stop by for dinner.

Tuesday – Open All Day – Serving our amazing Lunch from 11am – 2pm. On Tuesday night, you can enjoy another night of All You Can Eat Seafood and All You Can Eat Snow Crab Legs. Details are below.

Wednesday – Half Day – Serving our amazing Lunch from 11am – 2pm. This will be our Thanksgiving dinner at The Pelican Reef. We’ll be serving turkey, ham, and all the dressings! We’ll close at 2pm.

Thursday – Closed for Thanksgiving.

Friday – Back open with regular hours.


One quick note about the All You Can Eat Seafood and All You Can Eat Snow Crab Legs.

This week we will have Royal Reds on the menu. If you don’t know what they are, you’re invited to read on below. Royal Reds are one of the best tasting shrimp you can find around the area.

Dear Seafood Lover:

By now you’ve heard about the All You Can Eat Seafood Tuesday and All You Can Eat Snow Crab Legs event at The Pelican Reef.

It’s currently the most amazing seafood meal deal you’ll find in Mobile, Theodore, and the nearby area.

But that’s not all.

A few weeks ago, we made the event even better.

We added Royal Red Shrimp to the menu.

Or Royal Reds for short.

And that one change caused the #1 question we’ve ever had at The Pelican Reef.

“What exactly are Royal Reds?”

Here’s the answer for you, but first, let me tell you this.

When our close friends and family ask us about Royal Reds, here’s what we say:

“You’ve got to try them if you get the chance.”

That being said, here’s every interesting little detail about Royal Reds.

Royal Reds (Pleoticus Robustus) are the most delicate of native shrimp. However, that doesn’t take away from their flavor. In fact, they have a certain sweetness to them when compared to other shrimp.

These shrimp thrive deep down in the cold dark depths of the Gulf, ranging from 1,200 ft. to over a half mile down.

Scientists don’t really know why this depth adds to their sweetness. We only know that they are the most delicious kind of shrimp you can eat locally.

That’s why we added them to our menu for All You Can Eat Seafood Tuesday.

We could go on and on about them.

Instead here’s what some others have to say:

” After tasting seven varieties [of shrimp] … I can safely proclaim that wild-caught shrimp taste better, and that royal reds taste best of all. They’re comparable in size and price to other shrimp, but they’re often described as both sweeter and saltier, and they have a distinctive, more delicate texture. In spite of the difficulty in harvesting them, they remain a sort of Holy Grail among shrimp lovers.”

” These colorful crustaceans are found only in deepest, coldest waters of the Gulf, which makes coastal Alabama one of the few places you can  find them in large quantities. The main shrimp season is fall, but they’re available year-round.”
